As another step to restore the normalcy, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is resuming processing of Visitor Visas and eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) as on July 1. Although there are travel restrictions in place, IRCC has taken this step as an effort to be proactive on the future processing times.

Though people will not be able to travel to Canada these days due to the travel restrictions, there are some exemptions. The family members who shall be staying for more than 15 days, people who are coming to Canada for essential services, as skilled workers and others are allowed to enter Canada. People who travel to Canada from abroad as the exceptional cases have to mandatorily stay in quarantine for 14 days in Canada.

The travelers need to demonstrate that they are traveling to Canada for essential reason to the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) and they must also provide an adequate quarantine plan once they are in the country to the border authorities.

The applications for study permits, work permits and permanent residence are already being processed by IRCC online. Paper-based applications for any immigration purpose are not accepted as of now. Canada has been supportive of the applicants by giving them time and relaxations that are required at present to complete all the steps and formalities of the application that includes submitting the biometrics as well. Some Visa Application Centers (VAC) are also reopening around the world to streamline the immigration process once again.
