In an important development, which is expected to make global students wishing to study in Australia much happy, Canberra has decided that from November 5 onwards it will bring to an end the unchallenged monopoly of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Other key English language test providers have now been permitted to get admission into the global education market of the country.
Commenting on the news an immigration consultant was quoted as saying that the move was a positive one. Post the ending of the domination of the IELTS, case officers of the DIAC, Department of Immigration and Citizenship, would begin to accept results from other reputed English language test providers also, including the Cambridge English Advanced Test.
He added that students will now be in a position to appear for famous English language tests, including TOEFL and PTE. These two enjoy global acceptance and students would draw benefits from appearing for a test which enjoys wide acceptance across several nations and not only Australia.
At the present, the student visa aspirants from certain countries, like China and India, are expected to produce the IELTS test score as a proof of their proficiency in the English language. Much significantly, these two nations are also the two biggest global student source nations.
It needs to be mentioned that since long the global education industry of the country in question, Australia, has been urging for the democratization of the testing system, involving the English language.
