Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has recently updated their processing times as of June 17, 2025. The new processing times can help you understand how long you might have to wait for your visa or application. It may be for a permanent residency visa, study permit, or passport; with these times, you should have a little better understanding of the duration of your trip to Canada. IRCC regularly updates these timelines – and they depict the length of time that 80% of the applications are taking. Here are the new timelines and what it means for you.

Citizenship Applications – Updated Monthly

  1. Citizenship Grant: 10 months (No change)
  2. Citizenship Certificate: 5 months (Up by 1 month)
  3. Renunciation of Citizenship: 7 months (No change)
  4. Search of Citizenship Records: 15 months (No change)
If you applied before April 28, 2025, expect an Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) soon.

PR Cards – Updated Weekly

  1. New PR Card: 50 days (Up by 1 day)
  2. PR Card Renewal: 15 days (Up by 1 day)
