times as of June 17, 2025.
The new processing times can help you understand how long you might have to wait for your visa or application. It may be for a permanent residency visa, study permit, or passport; with these times, you should have a little better understanding of the duration of your trip to Canada.
IRCC regularly updates these timelines – and they depict the length of time that 80% of the applications are taking. Here are the new timelines and what it means for you.
Citizenship Applications – Updated Monthly
- Citizenship Grant: 10 months (No change)
- Citizenship Certificate: 5 months (Up by 1 month)
- Renunciation of Citizenship: 7 months (No change)
- Search of Citizenship Records: 15 months (No change)
If you applied before April 28, 2025, expect an Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) soon.
PR Cards – Updated Weekly
- New PR Card: 50 days (Up by 1 day)
- PR Card Renewal: 15 days (Up by 1 day)
