On 30th March 2020, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program conducted a round of invitations or ‘draw’, wherein 311 eligible candidates under various sub-categories or ‘streams’ were issued invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. Through the BC PNP, the province’s government nominates qualified foreign nationals for permanent residence to the federal government authority – Immigration, refugees and citizenship Canada (IRCC).
In this draw, candidates under the following streams who met the minimum point requirement – which is different for each stream and varies with each draw – received an invitation to apply for nomination:
Skills Immigration
Skilled Worker – 102 points
International Graduate – 102 points
Express Entry BC
Skilled Worker – 105 points
International Graduate – 102 points
Those who wish to permanently live and work in British Columbia must register online with the BC PNP, under an eligible stream. Each registrant is allocated a point score based on relevant selection criteria. The registration can remain in the pool for up to one year. On a regular basis, the highest-scoring candidates under each category – who meet or exceed the point requirement for their stream – receive invitations to apply for nomination.
This application and a $700 processing fee must be submitted online within 30 days of receiving the invitation. If approved, the applicant receives a provincial nomination, and can proceed to submit a complete application for Canadian permanent residence – along with relevant fees and supporting documents – to IRCC, which determines the final visa outcome after due verification.
