Alberta on Feb 20, 2020 issued a total of 150 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination and permanent residence to express entry candidates. The lowest comprehensive ranking score for applicants invited via the Alberta Express Entry stream was 350.

The Alberta immigrant nominee program invites candidates who have created their profiles in the federal Express Entry pool and then nominates them for permanent residency in Canada. The federal express entry system manages three economic migration programs- the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class. All applicants who have successfully received an ITA through Alberta Express Entry draw and awarded a certificate of nomination from the provincial government will be awarded an additional 600 points over their current CRS score in the comprehensive ranking system

This time the minimum CRS score required for candidates to be selected through the Alberta Express Entry draw was only 300. This was low as compared to the federal Canada express entry draw, where the minimum cut-off score was 471. It clearly means that the government of Alberta wants more skilled workers to migrate to the province and make valuable economic contributions in the province.

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program: How Profiles are Assessed?

In order to be eligible under AINP, express entry applicants must meet some basic eligibility requirements. The most important one is the applicants must possess a valid work experience in one of the in-demand occupations. They should also have the potential to contribute to Alberta’s economy.

Candidates need not to have a job offer from an employer in Alberta, however, the AINP does give preference to applicants who fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

an offer of employment or a work experience history in Alberta
degree or a diploma from a Canadian university/college/or institution
A parent, child or sibling already living in Alberta

As of now in 2020, the AINP has been able to send 651 invitations to express entry candidates. In 2019, the provincial government sent out a total of 11,137 invitations through the Alberta Express Entry stream.
