The illegal migrants residing in US will get a chance to update their qualifications through online as University of California and Los Angeles Centre for Research and Education - teamed up with National Labor College - to start online courses for such categories, despite their identity as illegal migrants in the country.
Introduced under the name of National Dream University, the project of running online courses is a wonderful effort on the course of offering a great chance to illegal immigrants to complete their further education; as such students are not entertained by several prestigious universities in the country.
Alma Castrejon, who is a project coordinator, commented that the students must get the right of education as it motivated them towards a new hope. They must not be barred from universities or colleges.
"Starting a new project is only meant to motivate students; they get a new kind of hope while getting an opportunity to attend college. If they don't get such opportunity in their native place or state, they need some helping hand for this," said Alma Castrejon.
He further said, "Students can frequently apply for this program without considering their immigration status as such online courses have been introduced to educate them."
He also said that six courses will be introduced in 2013 on various subjects like social movement, labor history and nonviolence, where 35 students' application will be accepted for enrollment. Those students, who enroll themselves for one year course, will have to pay USD$2,490.
Besides, the enrolled students will also have to travel Maryland and California at starting and at the end of the year. However, they will be allowed to complete their assignments and other tasks online.
