Pursuant to a recent report, temporarily from July 1, 2012 the CIC Canada will stop accepting new immigration applications under the Immigrant Investor and Federal Skilled Worker schemes. This pause will stay in place till year end 2012. The decision of putting a stop on new applications has been taken with the purpose of helping the government to properly process and decide on the already pending visa applications. However, applicants with arranged employment offer, along with those submitting applications under the PhD category still can apply under the Federal Skilled Worker program.
In this connection, Mr. Jason Kenney, Canadian Minister for Citizenship and Immigration, was quoted as saying that there have been a number of amendments made to the economic immigration method of the nation. He further added that the Government of Canada will take another 6 months period to do many essential things to make a much faster and flexible system of immigration.
The said report has also revealed that Canada will start accepting new applications from January 2013, when other proposed changes to the Federal Skilled Worker will come into effect. Mr. Kenney here expressed that this pause will have no impact on the number of personnels Canada permits into the country, because Citizenship and Immigration Canada continues to process received applications. Besides, the present status of immigration is historically at a higher level.
