In a remarkable development -- and post a review done by the PMO of India that came to the conclusion that the situation on the security front shouldn't hinder progress on the tourism front - there could be an increase in the number of countries, the citizens of which are entitled for visas, when they turn up in the nation.
Thirteen more countries may be included. The nations to be included could be mainly from the regions of the South-east, Central Asia, and Europe -- with Thailand, Malaysia, Germany, Spain and Russia being just some of the nations.
India's Home Ministry has been assigned with the task of chalking-out the particulars of the suggested visa regime in a manner that address security worries, by using information-sharing deals with the ASEAN and the European Union (EU), while making certain that visits to India becomes easier.
Increasing the numbers of visitors to the nation is being viewed as an important earner of revenue with just 600,000 guests from abroad annually being a very small share of the overall global tourism. It is believed that, thanks to the timely intervention, the Indian tourism may grow far quickly and in a much better way.
