In a shocking development, it has been learnt that migration program of Australia, run and managed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), and tailored to woo 1000s of young, extremely skilled students to the shores of Australia, for job purposes, has allegedly been toyed with by a man. The accused, an inhabitant of the Melbourne City, fashioned a stylish scam that did not do any good to the existing system.
Reportedly, the conman made lots of money by coming up with a large number of fake documents for global students keen on becoming permanent residents of the country. From the year 2006, for close to three years, the accused produced fake work letters of references and related documents employed by the students, with skills assessments and visa applications.
The conman helped the overseas students pocket the much-prized permanent residency (PR) in the country by coming up with false work reference letters that he later deposited with a branch of the concerned department. He accepted that he had pocketed above 500 and less than 1000 dollars for the 750-plus false documents that he had produced. He has paid employers - most of who were known to him, also.
But the law of the land caught up with him and his luck ran out even while he was jailed eventually. While handing over the judgment, the prosecuting judge was quoted as saying that the man had left no stone unturned to damage the migration program of the nation.
