Pursuant to a recent report, Mr. Ed Miliband, the Leader of the Labour Party of UK has announced the latest immigration rules of the party. He reportedly said that these new policies will prevent the people of UK being job locked-out by the overseas workers.
The said report has also revealed that according to these latest policies, only foreign employment companies would be prohibited and a scheme would be executed to focus on the sectors where native of this nation are dominated by a large number of overseas workers. Agencies would also be pressurized to inform whether they appoint higher numbers of overseas workers.
In this context, Mr. Miliband was quoted as saying that in the areas where skilled problems exist, every employer--large and medium, who has over 25% overseas workers, i.e., twice the amount of overall share of immigrants in the population, must have to inform the Job-centre Plus.
He further added that his intension is to divert the debate of the government from border control and those, he says useless caps on migrants by the government, to the impact on regular life of people instead.
In the meantime, Mr. Damian Green, the present Immigration Minister of UK criticized Denham for not decreasing the immigration level during the period of Labour party in power. He also expressed that the Labour party being in power don't even think that the level of immigration is quite high and it should come down. This is the reason they oppose every government policy that ask for cap on immigration intake and therefore, the Labour Party can't be considered as reliable to regulate the policy of UK immigration.
Besides, Mr. Miliband has reportedly confessed that the Labour party invited a large number of overseas personnels from the region of Eastern Europe by withdrawing restrictions on European Union accession nations like Poland very swiftly.
Mr. Miliband has further added that there has been a conflict of a huge number of immigration from the Eastern European region and the labour market of UK, which is openly very often cruel, wild and short-term. Several issues are there, raised by people over many years. According to him, it's essential to identify where the policies are perfect and, if they are found to be wrong, what should be done in this regard. He said that it is important to have the correct entitlement in place.
On the whole, though there are a number of immigration benefits; however, the essential aspect that is left without even noticing includes its significance to class, along with the aspects of benefits and burdens. While there is an urgent need for a builder in the country, it is always beneficial to go for an overseas skilled professional, as it helps in lowering the costs of construction. But in case of a UK builder, it is less useful, as expressed Denham.
Other amendments in the immigration policy of Labour Party include:
- Strict enforcement of lower wage laws and increasing of the fine amounts to ?10,000 for the law violators.
- An initial system of warning to the councils of job centre and national government to recognize the areas where the workforce is ruled by lower wage overseas workers.
- Reviewing migrants' access to Govt. benefits, access to the lists of housing and public services.
- Reviewing the significance of government's restrictions on the number of immigration.
