Rubbishing continued assertions made by certain politicians and those who are against immigration that the entry of the overseas nationals into Britain, over the years, has resulted in more British workers on the dole, some independent researchers have come to the conclusion that there is not any correlation whatsoever between increasing immigration and growing joblessness in the country.
They claim that there is no link whatsoever between higher immigration and joblessness - even during economic slump that the nation is facing presently. Actually, these researchers add that the literal opposite could be the case, and that immigration actually proves to be an economic catalyst even as it boosts overall levels of employment. They, however, admit that the inspiring impact of migration on the overall labor market at a time of economic downturn could not be big.
But critics claim that the increasing migration from certain areas - including the Eastern and Central Europe -- since the expansion of the European Union (EU), way back in 2004, has made matters worse on the front of youth job loss across the nation, even as this now stands at more than one million.
On the other hand, the supporters of immigration claim that youth unemployment began to rise prior to 2004 - the time when people from Poland and other ex Soviet bloc were generously allowed to enter the nation, for work purposes. They add that most of the increase registered in the youth unemployment occurred during 2008 and 2009 - the time when the number of workers from the Eastern Europe entering Britain, for job purposes, nose-dived.
