Immigration Flexibility Will Draw Concealed Treasures to Canada, Says Canadian Minister

In a noteworthy development, the Canadian Citizenship and Immigration Minister was reportedly quoted as saying that the proposed changes in the pipeline -- meant for the immigration system of the nation -- was tailored to make the entire process more flexible, and also battle the scarcity of labor staring the country.

Jason Kenney, the minister, added that Ottawa was mulling over introducing key changes into the points system, for zeroing in on migrants, to make out the skilled trades, even as this change in policy would significantly change the focus of the traditional immigration choice for those immigrants, who are university-educated, such as doctors and engineers.

The minister added that, under the present system, those who have skills and are tradesmen, find it very tough to land on the Canadian soils -- the reason being the program meant for skilled workers primarily chooses those who have higher university degrees.

He further said that by throwing the borders wide open to additional trade-oriented workforce, Ottawa will be in a position to draw lesser known jewels, even as this will assist cover shortages of labor in particular regions.

However, a critic of the move was quoted as saying that Ottawa would serve the citizens of the nation in a much better manner if it trained unemployed persons, prior to fishing overseas to cover its requirements of labor.

She added that the nation had depended on immigration time and again to cover requirements in the labor market, though the nation had several choices at home. She continued that only paving the way for ushering-in workers would lead to a situation wherein it would become tough for those who acquire residency or citizenship to bring along the members of their families to the Maple Country.
