Canada has recently released its 2012 census report, which shows that the number of population in the country got increased in a huge number with 33.5 million people. The report has also revealed that the two-third of this population growth throughout the nation is due to the immigration. Now, Canada has become the fastest growing nation in the G8.
In every five years, the Statistics Canada conducts population census in the country to keep a demographic account of the nation. It helps the nation to properly utilize its resources and make effective policy for the people.
This latest census also revealed that the western provinces of Canada are facing the highest population growth, with West Ontario exceeding the population growth of East Ontario. Besides, the province of Quebec, the Maritime Provinces, and Newfoundland and Labrador are also affecting by this growth.
There has been a population growth of 5.9% in the past 5 years, from 5.4% for 2001-2006. However, some of the Canadian provinces had significantly higher rate of population growth than the nation as a whole, for instance: Saskatchewan, where current rate of population growth is 6.7%. The increase of population particularly in Saskatchewan is due its sound energy-driven economy like Alberta.
Projection of Statistics Canada as part of the census simply signifies that population growth rate in Canada could be almost utterly determined by immigration within the next 50 years.
