Reports suggest that Canada, the Maple Country, has issued its first Super Visa. Talking about the development, the Canadian Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism reportedly said that Ottawa had promised to process the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa, within a short period, in less than eight weeks, even as they had done that and issued the first of the Super Visas taking only two weeks for this.
The said visa enables the parents and grandparents of the Canadian citizens and permanent residents to visit their family members settled in the involved nation, for as long as a decade even as these visas require to be renewed every two years. Earlier -- and prior to the introduction of the Super Visas, on December 1, 2011 -- travelers to the country normally could only visit for six months at a time, even while those who wanted to stay for extended durations had to duly apply for extensions, apart from paying a fresh fee every six months.
Much like the applicants for the usual Visitor Visa, which is valid for six months, those interested in the Super Visas make use of the same application form. Those keen in getting Super Visas are also required to present evidence that the host child or grandchild caters to a minimum income, prove that they have Canadian medical insurance, and also undergo medical check-up for immigration purposes.
Super Visa is part of the initiative of the Canadian Conservative Government to fight a huge backlog of nearly 165,000 parents and grandparents who are making attempts to join their family members in the Maple Country.
