In view of the alleged threats and mounting worries of the likely corruption, the names of the visa officials of Canada, who cover immigration cases overseas, would not be mentioned on the government papers. Federal immigration officials have reportedly said that a threat and risk assessment was being carried-out against the officials posted abroad even while it has been urged that the names of the diplomats are not carried on the official papers.
Officials have said the study was undertaken in the backdrop of several not too pleasant developments which have occurred lately in certain countries. Some security officials are worried that visa officers of the Maple Country may be treated with the rough end of the stick or that they could become the preferred objects of corruption attempts for coming-up with not too positive decisions. Reportedly, migrants or their lawyers may discover the identity of a visa officer by submitting a written request made to the involved embassy.
Meanwhile, some Toronto immigration lawyers have claimed that threats have been issued to some visa officers posted at certain high-risk nations, or that they have been duly tortured, with their crime being their strong refusals to issue visas or travel papers to some of the Canada-inspired applicants.
