Canada- Moves to Make Provincial Immigration Program Stringent

Available reports suggest that the Immigration Minister of Canada is moving ahead with Ottawa's new immigration policy that favors more inflexible standards for the manner the provinces of the Maple Country select their immigrants, even while he hailed the policy as a big success and economic windfall.

The Provincial Nominee Program -- which enables the nation's provinces to choose their own share of immigrants -- on the basis of local economic requirements, has attracted much praise. However, its performance, in the east, is not something to go to town with. Mounting worries, involving investor streams of the program, made their way to the Manitoba province, wherein the Auditor-General is reportedly carrying out a review.

The said program has expanded remarkably even as it has drastically altered the picture of immigration in the country, sending new entrants to areas in urgent requirement of business people, instead of urban centres, wherein very qualified migrants, time and again, fail to become unemployed. An assessment of the nominee program clearly shows that the nation wants to have a more say in ensuring that the effort works the manner it wishes it to.

Meanwhile, a summary, from the government stable, suggests that provinces of the Maple Country will have to furnish a proof that they require the workers they choose, even as they'll have to more minutely monitor their visa offices located overseas. The said summary also makes it clear that prior to making a move, the duly nominated migrants will have to cater to the basic language standards.

Much significantly, during an interview towards the end of the year gone by, Jason Kenney had dropped a hint at this policy restriction. He was quoted as saying that even though the program had turned out to be big success, the government was not very comfortable with certain things. He had added that Ottawa wished to ensure that the provinces ran the program with assiduousness and right honesty.
