With the situation on the skills scarcity scenario of Australia deteriorating, about 4,600 overseas employees have found jobs in the Queensland region, even as additional employers are likely to make the most of the 457 Visa in the future.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) says that the number of overseas employees in Queensland has headed north by as much as 70% over and above the year gone by. The figures also reveals that there were 83,290 workers from abroad in the Kangaroo Land, under the scheme of 457 Visa, which is tailored to enable the admission of workers from abroad to cover skills gaps, on a temporary basis.
Meanwhile, a concerned person was quoted as saying that the swell in immigration may also reflect the high number of resource projects, apart from the requirement for high level expertise. He added that the requirement for 457 workers, time and again, was due to the disinterest of the people of the nation to visit the area in question. He further said that, in case a job-provider fishes abroad to meet his firm's requirement for skilled employees, it was due to the scarcity of skilled labor force in the area.
In a related development the DIAC says that the number of 457 Visas granted between the period of July to November 2011 end was 51.6% more as recorded during than the same duration during 2010, even as in the Queensland province alone, the number of 457 Visa workers headed north touching 4,570 during the last year, from 2,890 recorded during 2010.
