Australia Skilled Visa Scheme Changes to Become Operational Soon

In what is being seen as the biggest change ever made to the visa program of Australia, starting July 1, 2012, the Department of Immigration & Citizenship (CIC) of the country will usher in BIG changes into their scheme of skilled immigration.

Those who want to be a part of the current program must, as soon as possible, duly apply for a test for skills evaluation. Prior to submitting one's application form, it's essential that the candidate is well prepared with his skills assessment and that he has also sailed through the Test of English Language.

With a view to apply, the candidate will have to put forward an Expression of Interest (EOI). The new scheme of immigration would see the prospective candidates put forward a claim for skilled immigration, through an online EOI. Later, they could be offered an invitation to present a visa application -- the basis of which would be their EOI.

This is a really an important departure from the existing system of immigration. Not many people may make the cut under the new scheme, and the processing times may also be comparatively longer -- the reason being under the new scheme one will not only require pocketing enough points but also that Canberra will take the decision whether the involved person will be permitted to put forward an application.

This is at par with the present system wherein in case the aspirant gets sufficient points, under the particular visa program, he stands a good chance of making the cut.

Prior to filing their visa applications, from July 1 2012 onwards, all new visa aspirants will have to submit an EOI and cool their heels for some time, for an invitation. For those who have put forward an application, ahead of that date, the DIC will process the application forms.
